LinkLib: Server-side: Servers

Apache is the world standard. Sambar is easier to setup and run as an all-in-one service. I've used, and like, both. There are others, but I haven't looked at them.
Apache
Description: This is the number one server in the world. The Windows version is relatively new.
Comment: I'm using this in conjunction with PHP and MySQL.
License: Free. Open source.

Nusphere
Description: A packaging of Apache, PHP, MySQL, and Perl. Looks nice and solves some of the configuration problems of putting it all together yourself. Good example of taking open source software and making a business out of it.
Comment: I've talked to people who are happy with it. Thinking about it myself.
License: $79 and up, depending on update and support options.

Sambar Server
Description: Freeware. Supports many propocols: HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP2, IMAP4. Handles SSI, CGI, log analysis, web-based admin, ...
Comments: Very nice! I used it for a couple of months and it was great. Designed around Windows, it is easy to get it up and running. Has FTP, ids, and many other integrated features, unlike Apache. However, it is non-standard and doesn't have nearly the support of Apache. I haven't looked for this in a long time -- are they still there?
